Based on the original phonostage pre-amp from our Alabaster amplifier described as “Amazing sounding” by one customer and “Really beautiful” by another. So well received we decided to develop a product around it.
Here’s what one reviewer said, reflecting many others, “What I’m the most excited about is the quality of the MM phonostage. Utilizing the new Gold Note Machiavelli high output MC (again, more expensive than the Alabaster) the level of refinement here is astounding, with a level of resolution I wasn’t prepared for.” Jeff Dorgay, ToneAudio
Sitting between your record player and hifi system The Bard’s Phonostage from Sonneteer brings life to your vinyl recordings. Familiar to many as the ‘Phono’ input on your hifi or audio system, The Bard’s Phonostage allows you to adapt or upgrade any amplifier or powered loudspeaker to work with a vinyl record player turntable.
Based on the highly regarded phonostage circuit design originally found in the legendary Sonneteer Campion Amplifier and latterly the Alabaster, The Bard’s Phonostage also takes on some of the attributes of the What Hi-fi, five star award winning Sonneteer Phnostage, the Sedley adapted to a smaller, more practical, form. It’s small, rugged, high performance and plug and play. Above all it’s a Sonneteer.
The Bard’s Phonostage is designed to mainly work with Moving Magnet (MM) type Cartridges which are most common on record players. It also has a high gain setting which will allow it to function with Moving Coil (MC) type Cartridges as well as lower output MM.
